Materials
Materials are necessary for you to improve your items and equipment by using Specify Plan in the Workshop. You can
only purchase them in the Maze of Tribulations (except the Synthesis Materials). The Ring of Disintegration can be charged
and its uses can be linked to receive these items. The easiest way to get them, however, is just through finding them in chests.
Non-Useable Items
These are items that you cannot use. They are either materials to synthesize with your weapon or items that improve
skills or stats without needing to be used. Others, are items you need to recruit inventors.

How do I use Workshops? Each
workshop needs to be upgraded before you can use all aspects of it. It costs Fol to do this, so don't upgrade the facilities
if you do not plan on using them. Expanding Workshop Facilities lets you add more production lines or expand what types
of inventions can be created at that particular workshop. Transfer Inventors lets you move other NPC inventors to a
different workshop.
To invent an item, select three inventors who all have the desired Skill
that you wish to use. For example, if you place one NPC inventor on a line that has Writing as his or her skill, the other
two on the line must also have that skill or no item can be invented. Next, select the type of invention you would like to
create. Next you can choose between Original Creation and Specify Plan. Original Creation allows you to make new items for
use or sale. Specify Plan allows you to upgrade an item that you already have (if possible). Check the price it will cost
(to see if you can afford the invention). If not, keep picking up and putting down an inventor to cycle through the costs
of different inventions. Press the Square Button to begin production.
After the time bar completes, production on a second item will begin
(if the first one succeeded) or the group will automatically try again. If they smile or look happy, then they succeeded.
If they look stumped, it means they failed. If you are running low on Fol, or do not want to create too many of the same item,
you may stop the production by pressing X and selecting item submission. If the Quality Gauge runs out or you hit the O Button
to end the line, you will lose all of the created items.
After you have invented an item, contact the guild and try to register
a patent. If the item has not been made by you or another NPC inventor yet, you will be given points based upon an evaluation
of the item. Any item that you or a signed NPC inventor creates can be bought from stores around the world at 1/5th of their
normal cost. Additionally, for every 30 minutes that you spend in a battle zone, you will receive money based on your patents.
The more invention points you have, the greater the amount of money will be given every 30 minutes.
Item Creation success depends upon the evaluation level of the item you
are trying to make. Your inventor's combined skill level must exceed the level of the item, or you have no chance to create
it. The amount you are over the evaluation level is the percentage possibility you have to succeed. Additionally, as time
progresses in each production attempt, the Quality Gauge will decrease. This decreases your probability to succeed as well.
Therefore, if you want to create items with a very high evaluation, you'll need very skilled inventors.
The Synthesis Skill
Each character in your party has the ability to use the Synthesis Skill. The great part is, you cannot fail when synthesizing
factors. Each weapon can have up to 8 factors synthesized to it. When you want to do this, select SYTH, which will bring up
a new screen. The first item you choose is the item you are looking to improve. The second item that you will choose is the
one that contains the factor you wish to move onto the other item. After you have synthesized the item, the second item you
selected will be lost. Additionally, it costs a LOT of Fol to do this and you use up a Synthesis Material every time you do
this. If you are using an item that has more than one factor, you must let it run through the production time for each factor
(and spend the money for each one). So an item with 8 factors will cost 8 times the Cost you see before you begin. If you
end the session early, you will lose the item that had the factors on it without all of the factors being transferred.
Keep
in mind that you may want to move your factors from one weapon to a better one you obtain later in the game. You may do this.
However, when you do it, they will be placed onto the new item in the order that you placed them on the original. So if you
aren't sure you'll want to keep Increased Fire Damage on a sword, place it at the end so that you may end the session before
it is attached. Try to stay away from putting any offensive elemental factors onto a weapon, as it may make the weapon useless
later in the game on a particular boss or enemy. Additionally, you must unequip any weapons before you can synthesize a factor
to it.
Specify Plan Specify Plan enables
you to upgrade certain items. If the item contains a (1) or (2) after the factor, this means that it can be upgraded through
Specify Plan. It is fairly costly and requires the use of the corresponding material. Most items that have negative factors
can be fixed using this method. Sometimes, a positive factor will be removed as well, so be sure to save before doing this.
The Best Way to Use Item Creation Item
Creation can be confusing and costly. If you'd rather not waste the time and Fol required to master this portion of the game,
read here.
The best item you can create midway through the game (when the enemies
begin getting difficult), is the Orichalchum. To create it, first recruit Misty Lear, Mackwell, and Maria. Place them on one
production line, then look for an item that costs around 5000 Fol to create. The Orichalchum has an Attack +500 factor. You
can refine it to double the factor and add Survive on Fury (50%). You can attach 8 of these to a weapon, giving you a +4000
attack!
Much later in the game, you will have enough Fol to work on creating
an even better item. The Boots of Prowess can be created by using the Crafting skill. They have a price of roughly 2500 Fol
to produce and an evaluation of 99, so use your most skilled inventors. After you have made them, you can use Specify Plan
to upgrade the factor. It begins at +5% to both attack and defense. After being refined twice, it turns to +30% to both attack
and defense. After this, attach as many as you can to a weapon using the Synthesizing skill.
