CHOCOBO'S
One of the many signatures of the Final Fantasy series, the Chocobo, returns.
This time they have a variety of uses. First and foremost, Chocobos can be used for traveling large distances quickly. In
addition, Chocobos are the centerpiece in a kind of minigame, where you dig for treasure. The minigame is similar to FFXI's
sub-game, Chocobo Hot and Cold.
Transport The main role Chocobos take
in Final Fantasy XI is in the form of transport. While walking from one area to another, it may take you up to an hour but
on a Chocobo you'll be there in a matter of minutes. You can travel in groups and alliances, as the picture above shows. How
exactly you will aquire Chocobos is not certain at the moment. It is assummed that you can either rent them from stables,
at towns, or catch them yourselves.
Chocobos Win Prizes Similar to Final
Fantasy IX, Chocobos in FFXI will be able to dig for useful treasures and items. The dig command can be used on most terrain
but it requires one Gisahru to feed the animal. If the Chocobo is hungry, it won't excavate. A Chocobo's level can be raised
after digging repeatedly and the higher the level, the more likely it is for the Chocobo to uncover a valuable item. |
